NATIONAL DISH OF ARGENTINA - Asado with Chimichurri
The Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final is played in the last weekend of September, and it is a time when most of the nation watches their TVs religiously, whilst drinking copious amounts of alcohol. This year The Molefaces got together to celebrate what would turn out to be an anti-climatic result, a draw (Only the 3rd time in the AFL’s 114 year history). This meant that we would all get together the next weekend for another go, and decided that this time we would partake in ol’ fashioned Aussie Barbie.
Coincidentally this week’s nation was Argentina, and their national dish Asado and Chimichurri (assorted grilled meats and marinade). I made the Chimichurri ahead of time and let it sit in the fridge overnight to let the flavours infuse. I also bought a selection of meats to grill as well as some Provolone cheese.
Now the video of the barbequing is very dark, due to it being night time, but you can still see the end delicious product.
Enjoy, or as they say in Argentina, ¡Buen apetito!
Difficulty: 4 (Chop, Mix, Grill and Eat, it’s that easy!)
Appearance: 4 (Look mouth-watering)
Taste: 5 (What’s not to like about BBQ’d meats? And all that garlic in the Chimichurri was to die for)
TOTAL: 13
The grilled Provolone was a favourite for everyone, and the Chimichurri was excellent on everything (especially the chorizo). With summer coming up in Australia, I foresee many Asados on relaxing weekends. Now I just have to find some Argentine beer!
